Genesis career Mentoring Program Application for Cohort 5

9:00AM - 5:00PM

Mentors are experienced industry leaders from a range of professions, industries and occupations who have demonstrated proven success in their field. In their role, mentors guide and support mentees in their career development. If you want to be a mentor, apply online nowwww.ujagenesis.com

Mentee Criteria for Selection
Mentees are welcome from any field of study, industry, profession, or occupation, provided they are in their final years of university or in the early years of their career. Mentees must also demonstrate clear goals and objectives for their career and for the Career Mentoring program. All mentees must commit to attending events, reviewing reading materials, and participating in the end of program evaluation.

Mentee Commitment
Mentees matched through the Career Mentoring program will be expected to meet their mentors in-person for a minimum of four (4) times over the course of a one-year period. Pairs can decide if they would like to schedule additional in-person, phone, email, or Skype meetings.
* Mentees participating in the Career Mentoring program will not be allowed to ask their mentors for a job

The Matching Process
A matching process determines the most appropriate relationship for specific mentors and mentees who have satisfied our criteria for selection. After the recruitment and application period for mentors and mentees has concluded in February, staff will review the applications submitted, and begin to facilitate the matching process. Mentors and mentees that have been successfully matched will be notified in March. Matches will be made according to relevant field of work and career goals.

Program Support and Resources
The Career Mentoring program has built a series of supports and resources including orientation materials, staff support, events, and readings.

How to Apply – Mentees
The application will be used by staff to determine each prospective mentee’s eligibility for the program, and will additionally be the primary resource staff use in facilitating the matching process between mentors and mentees. In addition to the formal application process, we hope to get to know potential mentees at our launch event. This event will feature an engaging speaker and be an excellent opportunity for young professionals to create new contacts, and expand their professional network.

It is important to acknowledge that not everyone who satisfies the eligibility criteria will be invited to participate in the program. In 2015, Genesis will be attempting to match 20-30 mentees and mentors in one-on-one mentoring relationships for each cohort. Therefore, dependent on the career field and particular skill-set of our mentors, Genesis may not be able to find an appropriate match for all mentees that are exceptionally qualified to participate in our program.
